EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Executive Director, Richmond Neighborhood Restoration, Inc.
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides operational leadership to the organization and works with the Board in setting strategic direction. The Executive Director is accountable for the RNR’s overall management and performance. This includes, but is not limited to, being responsible for the organization’s day-to-day operations, the management and timely completion of board approved projects and measurably increasing community support of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Work with the Board to develop a strategic vision and roadmap for the future including a strategic plan with short- and long-term goals, and ensure the priorities are achieved.
● Develop a working partnership with community partners, key stakeholders and contractors that furthers RNR’s mission.
● Ensure timely, accurate, and complete reporting of financial and operational information and assure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
● Effectively manage RNR projects so they are completed timely and within board approved budget.
● Work closely with project partners to mitigate risk, delays and ensure project completion.
Plan, direct and implement all board approved fund raising activities (campaigns, appeals, sponsorship programs, grants and events).
● Manage, implement and meet reporting obligations for awarded grants.
● Ensure the financial and operational integrity of the organization through effective budgeting, strong internal controls and accurate/transparent monthly financial reporting to the board.
● Contribute to the selection of future RNR projects.
● Manage the organization’s strategic communications plan and maintains the RNR website and social media accounts.
●Develop and implement a neighborhood blight evaluation process and recordkeeping program.
● Cultivate existing and develop new partnerships and collaborations with local and regional organizations in an effort to further RNR’s mission.
● Create visibility about RNR’s mission and important role in preserving Richmond’s historic homes and neighborhoods.
REQUIREMENTS: The qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in nonprofit management, property management or real estate development and possess these qualities:
●Respected and credible leader with strong business savvy, vision, project management skills, and a passion for RNR’s mission.
● A passion for, and working knowledge of, real estate development, historical preservation and urban revitalization.
● Strong manager with a demonstrated ability to lead organizations and complete projects.
● Strong, effective partnership-building and experience.
● Experience building, strengthening, and working with a not-for-profit Board of Directors.
● Strategic thinker who is committed to excellence and able to transform ideas into action.
● Effective communicator with the ability to expand the organization’s visibility, influence and impact.
● An exceptional relationship builder who is able to work in true collaboration with other individuals and organizations.
● Skilled at recognizing and creating opportunities and leveraging resources.
● Strong verbal and written communication skills and well-developed public speaking skills
● Exceptional interpersonal skills with successful team-building experiences with volunteers.
Demonstrated ability in motivating volunteers.
The Executive Director position scope and compensation: - Full-time, exempt - Annual salary approximately $45,000-$48,000 - Health care stipend of $3,000/yr
